In India, it’s common practice to construct homes and offices according to Vastu Shastra, an ancient architectural system that emphasizes harmony and balance. Architects often create house plans that incorporate these principles, ensuring that the layout aligns with natural energies and promotes well-being. This blend of traditional wisdom and modern design reflects a deep respect for both cultural heritage and contemporary needs.
Vastu Shastra encompasses the positioning and placement of various elements, including doors and windows. A common question among homeowners is how many doors or windows should be included in a house to ensure optimal energy flow and balance. So in this article, I will take you through vastu tips for doors and the process on how to count the number of doors as per vastu.

So let’s get started!
It’s recommended to seek a vastu consultant or expert, but with internet on fingertips, you can follow some of the basic things by yourself. Any vastu expert will suggest you the following things –
Number of Doors: The total number of doors and windows in a house must be even number as it allows better energy flow. Commonly recommended numbers includes 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 14, 16 (as per vastu a number which ends with 0 is not an even number). The ideal number of doors varies from case to case, but it’s recommended to have more doors and windows on the east and north side of the house.
Main Door: To attract positive energy flow, according to Vaastu, the main door is crucial, and it should be placed either on the east or north or north-east(NE) direction.
